FITNESS IS FUN
May 14, 2008
So, early Friday morning, I dropped my children off at my friends house. (Thanks to all my friends who watch my children while I race. You are all such lifesavers:)).From there I headed to the Naval Base in San Diego. I was off to do my first Aquathon. I was a little unsure how it would go. I usually like the race regardless of what I am asked to do, and this one was no different. It was a great race. There is just something that is indescribable about being out there racing. I love just pushing my body so hard, and seeing how well it can perform. Luckily, I performed well enough to win in the women's division.
So iIn an effort to motivate me to exercise with Sofie, I signed Spencer and I up for a 5K. The whole day before the race it rained and was so dark and dreary. I was so excited when I woke up the morning of the race and the sun was shining-it turned out to be a beautiful morning. It was also really fun the our good friends Lori and Richard ran it with us. Niether Spencer or I had done a 5 K before so it was pretty exciting that Spencer took 7th over all and ran it in just a hair over 19 min. I didn't have a grand entry like Spencer or anything but I was pleased with my time and actually had a blast.

I loved the classes! As a mother of young children, it was so great to spend an evening with Jaylene, learning of ways to improve my family's health. I have incorporated many of her recipes into our diet. My favorite? The Coleslaw. We have it at least twice a week.

Jaylene's "Forget Cooking" class was a wealth of information. My favorite part was the food and tasting! It was helpful to see if I liked the recipes and, later, to compare with mine as I try to make them.
